Q: What is a PEX supply stop valve?
A: PEX supply stops or outlet stop valves are 1/4-turn miniature shut-off ball valves with PEX connections, featuring PTFE seat and metal ball, which is operated by turning the valve handle 90 degrees.
Q: What is a PEX outlet valve used for?
A: These valves are most commonly used to shut off the flow of domestic hot or cold water to a plumbing fixture, such as bathroom and kitchen sinks, toilets, bidets, water filters, dishwashers, under-sink water heaters and many others.
Q: How many types of these valves are there?
A: They are available in (2) main options -
angle (for installation where water pipes stub out from the wall and the flow needs to be diverted upwards) and
straight (when the pipe(s) stub out from the floor).
Q: Which of these stop valves would work with my PEX pipe brand?
PEX crimp stop valves are universally compatible with all brands and type of PEX tubing (A, B, C).
PEX expansion stops are for use with PEX-a tubing only (Uponor, Sioux Chief, Everhot, Rehau, Mr. PEX, etc.)
PEX press stops are universally compatible with all types and brands of PEX.
Q: 1/4-turn or multi-turn stop valve - which is better?
A: 1/4-turn operating handle is proven to be more reliable then multi-turn valves (with seat & plunger design) since they mimic the design of a standard ball valve, albeit in a smaller form and these have proven to be very reliable in all types of settings.
Q: Any other parts which need to be purchased with these valves?
A: In almost all cases, pipe escutcheons are recommended to cover the hole where piping comes out of a wall, floor or ceiling.
For rough-in installations, we suggest using these valves in combination with
copper stub-out elbows and
support brackets.
Q: Are there any alternatives to these valves for a better/cleaner look?

Ox Box series outlet boxes by Sioux Chief are recessed style supply outlet boxes which are favored by a large number of installers since they eliminate the need for a stub-out elbow (or fitting), support bracket and escutcheon.
Q: How do I connect a PEX outlet valve to the fixture?
Each supply stop has an inlet and outlet. The inlet is PEX and is connected to the main pipe using the crimp method for crimp valves, expansion method for expansion valves and press method for press valves.
The outlet (fixture side) is standard for most valves throughout the industry and is 3/8" OD compression. This side is connected to the faucet/toilet/etc. using either flexible braided connectors or copper risers (often in chrome plated, brushed nickel, oil rubbed bronze or other finish). First option is much more popular due to ease of installation. Second option is preferred by come contractors as it is more durable, offers a cleaner look and can better complement different fixture finishes. Both of these options require no special tools besides a pair of adjustable pliers or crescent wrenches.
